Coconino County Department of Public Works

Date Completed

July 2015

The Coconino County Public Works department contracted Banicki to perform this Design-Bid-Build project located in the community of Munds Park. Although the Munds Wash structure was relatively small – only 70 LF in length and 26 LF in width, the project had to be completed “one side at a time” in order to ensure a continuous and free flow of traffic across the structure at all times. While this phased approach facilitated traffic, it also created a closely confined workspace for the Banicki construction teams working in close proximity to live traffic. Implementing our Safe & Sound® approach and working directly with the County for advance traffic barricade and traffic planning, the Banicki team performed bridge deck demolition and replacement, utilizing barriers and traffic control with zero lost time accidents over the project life-cycle. The Banicki team successfully delivered major construction benchmarks within 90 days, beating the expected construction schedule of 120 days while achieving a “full open” bridge condition to two way traffic for the important 4th of July benchmark. By keeping a clear focus on contingency oversight, the Banicki team was able to achieve success while delivering the project for nearly $45K under the projected budget of $500K.
