This road widening and reconstruction project involved 8,609 SY of subgrade preparation, utilized 2,488 TN of aggregate base and 1,810 TN of asphalt, and required the installation of 5,039 LF of roll curb and gutter with 1,726 SF of associated residential driveway surface reconstruction. The Division utilized a Gomaco GT-3600 curb and gutter machine to provide speed and quality throughout the job. Additional civil infrastructure scope included removing and replacing an 8in water main located within the public Right Of Way (ROW) and providing new water facilities and connections to 23 rural homes. The JOC Division utilized the information collected to partner with MCDOT during preconstruction on the timing, planning and lane restrictions that would be necessary to safely and effectively build the project; collaborate to determine solutions for identified drainage issues; and review MCDOT ROW plans to verify potential impacts to public and third party utilities; and to create a proactive public outreach strategy. With 23 homes and more than 60 total residents, careful planning, coordination and communication occurred to keep residents informed of the work effort and phasing necessary to construct the new roadway and residential water supply facilities.
