This project was designed to stop water from entering the I-10 tunnel that was being generated from the landscaping at the Margaret Hance Park that sits on top of the tunnel. Banicki forces excavated through the park as much as 14 feet deep to uncover the tunnel to perform the specified repairs. Our work included cleaning and resealing portions of the tunnel and installing new drain piping, filter fabric, a PVC liner and gravel backfill. This project was very sensitive to the surrounding facilities which included the excavation and repair work that took place inside the Japanese Friendship Garden adjacent to their existing fish ponds. This difficult project was delivered on time and at budget.
