In a joint venture with Wadsworth, Banicki was awarded the SR24 project included the construction of two large flyover bridge structures totaling over 6,000 linear feet as well as two box-beam, post-tensioned bridges, two large girder bridges, twelve retaining walls, four box culverts and one bridge widening. The project utilimately tied SR24 into SR202. The scope of work also included the importing of approximately 1.2 million cubic yards of soil, over a 1 million CY of excavation, paving of over 170,000 SY of PCCP, 10,000 tons asphalt paving, and storm drainage installation. This project was highly segmentalized and required very detailed sequencing and phasing plans to best maintain budget, schedule and minimize interuptions to traffic flow on existing roadways. Banicki also effectively and succesfully managed 65 independent subcontractors throughout the life of the project. The project’s total cost only rose by approximately $1 million due to owner directed changes causing scope increases and a contract schedule extension to cover additional electrical and landscaping quantities.
