This project included the complete reconstruction and widening of Arizona Avenue from Pecos Road to Frye Road, right in the heart of downtown Chandler. The intersection of Arizona Avenue and Fairview Street was rebuilt from a stop sign controlled intersection to a fully signalized intersection. Traffic signal improvements were also performed at the intersection of Arizona Avenue and Pecos Road. Maintaining business access, pedestrian mobility, and current traffic flows through the project corridor was paramount. Banicki maintained two lanes of traffic in each direction along with pedestrian routes at all times throughout construction.

Project scope included roadway reconstruction and widening, raised medians, bike lanes, sidewalk, ADA improvements, curb and gutter, streetlights, drainage improvements, waterline, waterline interconnects, residential water services, fire hydrants, utility relocations, streetscape enhancements, landscaping, irrigation, and signalization work.

With the project including 2,800 LF of new 16” DIP waterline, Banicki performed extensive SUE Level A potholing prior to starting the waterline work in order to locate clashes with existing City of Chandler utilities. Due to our efforts, Banicki was able to reconfigure the new waterline alignment prior to starting construction and avoid conflicts with existing City of Chandler electrical and fiber optic utilities.
