DESCRIPTION
Banicki performed a full runway reconstruction at Runway 5/23 for Yavapai County Public Works, addressing critical line-of-sight and longitudinal gradient deficiencies. The project also included the creation of a full-length Runway Safety Area (RSA) to enhance operational safety. In addition to rebuilding the runway pavement section, the scope included constructing 4,550 linear feet of RSA on both sides, two new taxiway turnarounds with paved infields, and a series of drainage improvements such as culvert replacements and catch basin installations. Key challenges—including the removal of large subgrade boulders and managing significant rainfall—were successfully mitigated. Core drilling was also completed to facilitate installation of the PACS Monument.
