Delivered across 4 GMP’s based on FAA grant funding, this intricately phased project included 3.6M SF (83 acres) of new asphalt pavement section across the entire south apron area at DVT. Meticulous coordination with Transpac Aviation Academy (now AeroGuard), Westwind School of Aeronautics, Cutter Aviation, and the COP Police Department was paramount for the successful execution of this multi-phased project.

During design and preconstruction, Banicki worked hand and hand with DVT Operations, user groups, and tenants to develop 17 construction phases in order to successfully deliver this project with minimal impacts and disruptions. The Design-Build team of Banicki and Stantec designed 5 different asphalt pavement sections for the broad range of aircraft loading across the south parking area.

Project scope included full depth asphalt replacement; mill and overlay; crack sealing; aggregate base; lime treated subgrade stabilization; electrical adjustments; sewer adjustments; water valve adjustments; large aircraft tie downs; new luminaires at all aircraft hangers and canopies; and new concrete helipads.

Design Phase Services: Multiple GMP’s to match FAA grant funding; design development; detailed bid packages for work disciplines in each GMP; detailed quantity take-offs; SBE & DBE outreach; P6 CPM scheduling; constructability & design reviews; value engineering; coordination with airport user groups, tenants & operations; complex construction phasing to minimize impacts to airport user groups, tenants & operations.
