This emergency project consisted of removing and replacing both directions of Old US Hwy 80 at a low water crossing in Gila Bend that had washed out from rain events during the record-breaking monsoon season in 2021.

Project scope included the excavation and removal of 700 SY of existing damaged concrete pavement; undercutting the subgrade 3’ and replacing it with MAG ABC; two reinforced concrete cutoff walls at 190 LF and 220 LF longitudinal to the roadway; 3” reinforced shoulder PCCP; and placing 700 SY of 9” PCCP that served as the new roadway section. Banicki also constructed temporary ABC bypass roads at the front end of the project so there were no impacts to traffic throughout construction.

Banicki Benefit: Banicki assembled pricing and began construction on this emergency Job Order within one-week of being notified by MCDOT for emergency services.
