This project encompassed the full new construction of Jomax Parkway from Vistancia Blvd to SR 303, as well as the widening of Vistancia Blvd to accommodate additional travel lanes and a new signalized intersection. Vistancia Blvd was widened by three additional lanes at the intersection of Jomax Parkway and a new fully signalized intersection was installed.

Further project scope included street lights, illuminated street signs, curb and gutter, raised medians, bike lanes, desert landscaping, and relocating native saguaro cacti.

Jomax Parkway had an existing 36” Transwestern high pressure gas line running directly through the new roadway alignment, thus extensive utility coordination was required. Banicki exposed the 36” Transwestern high pressure gas line across the full width of the roadway for anomaly verification and coating treatment prior to proceeding with the placement of roadway fill.

PRECONSTRUCTION SERVICES

In partnership with the City of Peoria and the Peoria Unified School District, Banicki re-phased the project to complete the widening of Vistancia Blvd in the day during off peak hours while

maintaining a single traffic lane and bike lane in each direction, ensuring there were no disruptions to bus route for numerous schools within the Peoria Unified School District. This saved significant time and money for the City as the project specifications originally called for the construction of a temporary detour with crossovers to perform the majority of the widening work at night when the traffic restrictions were lessened.
