DESCRIPTION
Banicki completed a roadway reconstruction along Kona Trail in Kachina Village for Coconino County Public Works, improving roadway safety, drainage, and pedestrian access. The project involved milling and replacing 4,590 SY of asphalt pavement and constructing a 2-foot-wide shoulder buildup with recycled millings. Additional work included sidewalk panel and curb replacement, new curb and gutter, guardrail installation, signage, and double culvert headwall reconstruction.
Crews installed ADA-compliant ramps, concrete repairs, and drainage improvements such as riprap and rock check dams to control stormwater. The team coordinated closely with UniSource to adjust utilities and modified field conditions around existing gas and Optimum fiber lines to prevent conflicts. Despite challenging grades and steep paving sections, Banicki delivered the project ahead of schedule with full public access maintained throughout construction.
