This unique project, initiated by the Verde Valley Cyclists Coalition, involved the creation of a mountain trail and skills park tailored exclusively for mountain biking enthusiasts in Sedona. The endeavor aimed to establish a prominent destination for mountain bikers, capitalizing on the region’s natural environmental assets to attract tourism. Throughout the preconstruction and design stages, Banicki collaborated with the City of Sedona, the Verde Valley Cyclists Coalition, and other project stakeholders. This collaboration focused on developing operational strategies that would cause minimal environmental impact, aligning with the project’s commitment to complement the native surroundings both during and after construction.

To adhere to stringent environmental and “minimal disturbance” objectives, Banicki employed specialized machinery selected for their size and accessibility. The project encompassed activities such as minimal impact grubbing, the construction of natural swales and drainage outfalls, rough and finish grading of bike trails, installation of way-finding signage, and the incorporation of sport-specific amenities designed to minimize environmental impact.
