DESCRIPTION

Banicki’s Shadow Mountain Drive Reconstruction was delivered for the Bellemont area of Coconino County, improving roadway structure, drainage, and long-term durability for local residents and emergency access routes. The project included full-depth removal of the existing pavement, subgrade preparation, and construction of a new cement-treated base (CTB) with asphalt paving.

Crews placed new 6-inch ABC and 4-inch asphalt surface course, installed MAG Type B ribbon curb and valley gutters, and completed fine grading, drainage repairs, and erosion control measures. Work also included hydroseeding of disturbed areas and traffic striping to County standards.

The Shadow Mountain Drive Reconstruction team coordinated closely with Kinder Morgan, UniSource, and CenturyLink to protect critical underground utilities and manage crossings of high-pressure gas lines. Banicki partnered directly with Coconino County staff to overcome challenging weather conditions and maintain continuous public access throughout construction, delivering the project safely and on schedule.
